The June 2026 confirmation of BYD's humanoid program crystallized a structural advantage that the EV and battery giants have been quietly accumulating. A humanoid robot is, by cost, mostly a bill of materials these companies already mass-produce — batteries, motors, power electronics, sensors, and precision parts — and the single largest cost item, the actuators and their reducers, is sitting exactly where lithium-ion cells sat fifteen years ago: a high-performance component waiting for a volume manufacturer to ride it down the learning curve.
