1. Microsoft and OpenAI End Azure Exclusivity (April 27)

Three days before the OpenAI-Microsoft restructuring, Google disclosed an investment of up to $40 billion in Anthropic, structured as a mix of cash and committed Google Cloud compute consumption. The deal expands Google's existing Anthropic equity position substantially and commits Anthropic to a multi-year TPU consumption ramp that is now the largest single hyperscaler-to-lab compute commitment in the industry.

The number is the kind of statistic that should reorganize defensive security roadmaps. Patch-cadence assumptions, vulnerability-management SLAs, and intrusion-detection windows that were calibrated against a months-long exploit-development tail no longer match the threat surface.
